The commissioning process starts with discussing your vision. Some customers have a clear idea, and some draw inspiration from examples or other work seen on websites, photos, etc. This discussion is often initiated on the phone or by email. If you are in the local area, I can schedule a visit to your home or my studio. Should you visit my studio, you will see current works in progress, drawings of projects, machinery, and hand tools used to create projects, patterns, jigs, and fixtures used to create various parts.

 

We will discuss aesthetics, engineering, function, dimensions, materials, and finishing from a concept to a finished piece. Once we have agreed on an overall design, I prepare a written proposal that defines the scope and terms of the project time required to build each piece, depending on the complexity and size of the design.

 

The cost to deliver your piece depends on the weight, overall dimensions, and distance. If you live within proximity, I typically deliver the piece to you.

 

If delivery is not an option, I will build a sturdy, well-padded shipping crate to ensure the safety of your piece. Costs for crating and shipping vary depending on the size and weight.
